The situation
Craig Thieme built Pro Fencing on word of mouth. Referrals kept the phone ringing and the schedule full, so the business never needed the website to work.
Which was fortunate, because it didn't. Craig had a site for years. It was a brochure. It looked fine, and it did very little. The occasional inquiry trickled through, but not one of them ever turned into a job. Every fence Pro Fencing ever built came from someone telling someone else.
Plenty of good contractors run this way, and it costs more than it looks. Word of mouth has a ceiling. When a referral checks you out online before calling, a tired website can lose you a job you already earned. And when the phone slows down, there is no second channel to turn on.
Why he hadn't switched
Craig had lived with the same site for years, and that is how most contractors end up with a website that doesn't work. Changing it feels like risking the one thing you can't afford to break: how customers find you. Downtime, lost email, vanishing from Google.
So the job wasn't only to build a better site. It was to move a working business onto it without a single customer noticing.
What Ricavvo built
A rebuild, not a facelift. We built Pro Fencing a new site on modern, fast technology instead of patching the old one. Designed for phones first, because a homeowner looking at their backyard is holding one.
Built to bring in inquiries. Clear services, curated photos, and an easy way to request an estimate on every page. The old site asked visitors to look. The new one asks them to reach out.
Every inquiry captured and answered fast. Requests come in through the site and get a quick response, because in the trades the first contractor to call back usually wins the job.
A seamless switch. Content and search presence moved over with the site. Customers never knew anything changed.
Managed every month. Hosting, security, updates, edits, and local search are handled. Craig runs a fencing company, not a website.
The result
One month after launch:
- A steady stream of leads from a website that had produced a handful in years
- Two of those leads became paying jobs, from a site that had never closed one
- By Craig's own math, the site had already paid for itself
Word of mouth still fills the phone at Pro Fencing. It just isn't the only thing that does anymore.
“I've had a website for many years. It was just a brochure. I got very few leads through it, and none of them ever turned into a job. My business was all word of mouth. Since hiring Ricavvo to rebuild my site, that all changed. In one month, I have a steady stream of leads and have gotten two new jobs from those leads. Not only does my website look great, but it paid for itself almost immediately. Thank you John and Taylor and the whole Ricavvo team.”
Your website should be bringing you work.
If your site has never produced a customer, that is fixable, and switching is easier than you think.
